Things To Do This Weekend In Ontario

Some fantastic spots in Ontario offer relaxing and enjoyable mini-vacations. You can go hiking through Huntsville, explore wine country, or experience the beauty of Niagara Falls. Discover Prince Edward County, the province’s gastronomic capital, and London City, which is only a few hours’ drive from Toronto. You can also enjoy skiing through the pine forests of Hardwood Hills and tracking down one of the many gorgeous waterfalls.

Ontario is the perfect destination for weekend getaways. With beautiful beaches, fascinating museums, and breathtaking national parks, there’s enough to keep visitors busy for at least three days. Whether you’re a local or a tourist, there are plenty of exciting things to see and do in Ontario. You’re guaranteed to discover something new and exciting during your weekend getaway.

Here are some of the Greatest Ontario we either got on tap or in the keg:

  • The Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest is an annual event that celebrates German culture and heritage. It is one of the most popular festivals in Ontario.
  • The Sound of Music Festival is a three-day outdoor music festival that celebrates music, food, and the natural beauty of the Niagara Escarpment. It takes place in Burlington, Ontario on the shores of Lake Ontario.
  • Elmira Maple Syrup Festival is an annual event in Elmira, Ontario. It celebrates the maple syrup production in the area and attracts people from all over southern Ontario to come and enjoy pancakes, maple taffy, and more.
  • The Fergus Scottish Festival is a festival that takes place in Fergus, Ontario. It celebrates Scottish culture by showcasing traditional music, dance, food, games and more!
  • The Toronto International Film Festival is Canada’s largest film festival with more than 300 films screened each year.
  • The Sound of Music Festival is a three-day outdoor music festival that celebrates music, food, and the natural beauty of the Niagara Escarpment. It takes place in Burlington, Ontario on the shores of Lake Ontario.

While Road Trip Ontario will take us through numerous traditional territories throughout the province, we are based in Toronto.

As such we acknowledge that we are on the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. Toronto is covered by Treaty 13 signed with the Mississaugas of the Credit, and the Williams Treaties signed with multiple Mississaugas and Chippewa bands.

African Ancestral Acknowledgement

Road Trip Ontario also acknowledges all Treaty peoples – including those who came here as settlers – as migrants either in this generation or in generations past – and those of us who came here involuntarily, particularly those brought to these lands as a result of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade and Slavery. We pay tribute to those ancestors of African origin and descent.
