What is the Evelyn Shanahan Endowment Fund for Creative Play?
Evelyn Shanahan was a sweet and hilarious little girl who spent a lot of her 9 years at Alberta Children’s Hospital (ACH). Through frequent and sometimes long hospitalizations, she still lived her life with enthusiasm. No day was complete without a dance party to her favourite songs. Her favourite part of every day at the hospital was singing and dancing with the music therapists!
When she passed away in the Fall of 2022, her parents created the Evelyn Shanahan Endowment Fund for Creative Play with generous donations from her friends and family. The fund provides ongoing yearly funding to support the music therapy program at ACH. The music therapy program at ACH is entirely donor funded and interacts with children thousands of times each year, bringing joy, encouraging social development and supporting kids to be themselves even in the most difficult circumstances.
Evelyn’s dogs (Bee & Baxter) hope to see you there!
