Lanark County

Lanark County was settled in 1816 and was considered a social and political hub before being overshadowed by Ottawa. The majority of European settlements in the county began in 1816 when Drummond, Beckwith, and Bathurst townships were named and surveyed.

The county was named after the town of Lanark in Scotland.
